LA Wine Fest 2010

Although I am admittedly no wine expert, I enjoy and appreciate it and, as such, jumped at the opportunity to attend the 2010 LA Wine Festival.

Held over the weekend of June 5 in Hollywood, the LA Wine Fest afforded attendees (ok, drinkers) the opportunity to sample 500+ different kinds of wines from 130+ wineries as well as spirits, craft beer and food from vendors including The Sweets Truck, The Tasty Meat Truck and The Must Bar.

After checking in, picking up my LA Wine Fest glass and meeting up with Diana from Diana Takes a Bite and some Twitter pals, I set off to let the tasting begin.

Upon entering the festival, I was quickly overwhelmed by the number of tents under which sat seemingly endless wines, spirits and food for my tasting pleasure. There was no way I could try even most of this! With manageable crowds and almost no wait time for each vendor, however, I began to work my way through the festival, sampling wines from Frey Organic Wines, Starry Night Winery, D'Anbino Vineyards and Cellars, Sculpterra Winery and Sculpture Garden and Bixler Vineyards, to name a few.

Pear Valley Vineyard earns a special mention for their sweet, ambrosial orange muscat--my favorite wine of the day.

Despite its name, the LA Wine Fest also included spirits and craft beer from local vendors.

Among the exhibitors at the festival were Gourmet Blends, selling incredible infused olive oils and truffle oil (I tried and absolutely loved almost every oil they had), and Somerdale International, purveyors of delicious English cheeses.

Although I was disappointed that the Border Grill Truck was not at the festival on Saturday, there were still ample lunching options.

Because of the heat, however, I passed up the Jamaican food, mini grilled cheese sandwiches and empanadas in favor of gourmet popsicles from The Pop Shop, which uses natural ingredients to create sweet and refreshing flavors such as lime mint mojito and Mexican chocolate.

Delicious!

My only suggestion for next year? Misting tents!
